Hi all,
I have two observations from Sweden that have been changed in "Species not in database". The details say:
"Species does not exist anymore. refresh specieslists !!! Original species id :597040"
How can I retrieve what species that was? As they are now, these observations have become useless to me, and I would hate to see this happen to any other of my observations.
Thanks in advance,
Jeroen.
Jeroen, update your specieslists in your app regularly then this problem will not occur
Dear Hisko,
Thanks for your reply, but this isn't about the app, it's about the website.
We are talking about two observations from almost a year ago (20 and 21 June 2017), which I am 100% sure were correctly imported from the app to the database. I went through all my obs shortly after I got home, so I would have noted them earlier. There must have been a change in the species lists when these obs were already in the db for a while.

Of course, taxonomic insights change and the species lists must reflect this. I am perfectly willing to change these obs to a currently accepted species name, but as it is now, I have no option to retrieve what it was I saw there! Surely, one can't expect me to remember this by heart?
The only thing I need is a way to look up wat that original species id 597040 was.
In the end, we are also talking about reliability and user confidence in the system. If I can't trust my obs will be recoverable and interpretable to me in the long term, I might as well start using a paper notebook again.
Best regards,
Jeroen.
The species has already been merged in july 2016: https://forum.waarneming.nl/smf/index.php?topic=57476.msg1987496;topicseen#msg1987496, so the same problem must have been there in june '17.
