Tacumshin in County Wexford is having a fantastic run of American and Siberian waders at the moment:

-2 Semipalmated Sandpipers (http://observado.org/waarneming/view/56446328)
-2 White-rumped Sandpipers (http://observado.org/waarneming/view/56446231)
-1 Baird's Sandpiper (http://observado.org/waarneming/view/56446216)
-1 Buff-breasted Sandpiper (http://observado.org/waarneming/view/56446340)

All have breen present for at least a week. Nearby, another two White-rumped Sandpipers were found, while one Sharp-tailed Sandpiper was found today.
Wow!! I hope they will move all to the Netherlands now ;)
Met vriendelijke groet, Niels-Jan Dek

:duim: -  Today, Ireland's second Pallid Harrier was found at the site.

Peppershrike77

The fourth and fifth records of Desert Wheatear* in Ireland today. Both were feeding together on Bray Head in County Wicklow.

*Would it be possible to change the rarity status to Very Rare? Thanks!

An adult winter Ross's Gull in County Down, Northern Ireland:

http://observado.org/waarneming/view/62761240

The fifth or sixth record for Northern Ireland. The last twitchable Ross's Gull in Ireland was one in Galway City in February 2002.

Nice! Have you perhaps also got pictures? There are no pictures of this species in Observado yet.

Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures. I only have a small digital camera with a telescope mount and the bird was just too mobile for that to work.

That's a shame. Any friends who might have? It would be really nice if we get some pictures of this very nice species!

A long distance twitch from Ireland for two long-staying rarities in Britain:

-Common Yellowthroat in south Wales (http://observado.org/waarneming/view/63459566)

-Dark-eyed Junco in southern England (http://observado.org/waarneming/view/63450597)

The Common Yellowthroat is the tenth record for Britain, with only one previous one in Wales. There have been 33 previous records of Dark-eyed Junco in Britain, but surprisingly only 3 in Ireland (the last in 1998/99). Considering that Southampton Port is less than 10Km away, I would think this bird probably arrived on board a ship in October/November last year, before dispersing to the current site. It was found by a non-birder who took a photo of it after seeing it for several days in a row and sent it the photo to the RSPB.

Met vr groet, Theo.
