Hallo,

note 1: approximately 600 Oystercatchers in total were ringed Jan.-March 2001 at different sites in the Dutch Wadden Sea. Aim of the study is to compare condition and survival between parts of the Dutch Wadden Sea in which large scale shellfish fisheries is allowed or not. In addition we hope to use these birds to monitor changes in survival rates, for which we will perhaps ring a few more birds in future.

note 2: each bird has a colour-ring on one tibia (green (G), yellow (Y), or black (B)), and a metal ring on the other tibia.

note 3: on each tarsus there is a large colour-ring, with an inscription. Used colours are: white ring with black inscription (WB), yellow ring with black inscription (YB), red ring with white inscription (RW), green ring with white inscription (GW). During 2003 orange ring with black inscription (OB) and lime with black inscription (LB). In the future black with white inscription (BW) and cyan-blue with white inscription (CW) will be used.

note 4: Information on breeding status of sighted individuals is greatly appreciated.
