Hello,
I have been using observation.org for 18 months now, both with a personal account, and with a professionnal one for the biodiversity program I am leading in a science education NGO. Both internet website and android app have been fantastic opportunities for this program data, but we are really really missing one very important features : altitude data. Working mostly in mountain area, this is something we deeply miss for many data analysis. We would really need to be able to search our data to answer questions such as :
- What butterfly/bird/plant have been found above 2000m in our study area ?
- what is the altitudinal range of this species in our data ?
- At what altitude is this species more abundant ?
- How many species of this and that have we found between 1500m and 2000m ?
So would it be possible to build a feature that will retrieve altitude data with the latitude/longitude data ? And show it in the observation pages ? And make observations searchable using this data ? That would be really awesome, and I am pretty sure this would help many many users around the world.
Thank you very much !
