wood duck hybrid -but with what?

The other parent has to be some small dabbling duck species. Guessing from the bill pattern, Speckled Teal (Anas flavirostris) would be the most obvious candidate.

GJ, I think similar- either the other parent is this species or (Less likely) GW / Eurasian Teal.

This bird is slightly different in bill pattern, but again I see these two possibilities, -- what do you think?

Yes, this is a very similar-looking hybrid. I have no idea whether hybrids with GW/Common Teal could have such a bright yellow on the bill.

Depends on the species they have hybridized with, in my experience. With mallard they can, but with pintail or wigeon this area would be bluegrey.

what lets me tend towards speckled teal is more the scapular pattern- dark with light rim.
