Through the viewfinder it was impossible to distinguish them, but on the picture displayed on computer screen the difference is significant. The bird below which I think that is Parrot Crossbill looks massive in comparison to the Common Crossbill above.

Don't you have any more pictures Damian? I see what you mean (the bird looks clearly bigger with a larger head and thicker neck) but it should not be the first time that a picture shows a wrong 'image'. Besides the bill looks not that big but on the other hand it's partly hidden by twigs, so more photo's could help..

I have added another one picture of this bird (again the subject below), as well as enlarged of previous upload. Quality is poor because of 200% crop size from original image.
