in German for entering plants:

1.) under selection of the stadium it should say 'vegetativ', not 'vegetatif'
2.) under selection of Aktivität (gedrag) it should be 'adventiv', not 'adventif'
3.) there is still an English box to tick: Planted,sown,escaped or adventive --> Angepflanzt, ausgesät, entkommen oder adventiv

For species in general:
I'm not sure about the following, but for the term 'zeldzaamheit'/'rarity', I am more familiar with saying 'Häufigkeit' (frequency) instead of 'Seltenheit'. Minor issue though.

Best

And in English that line also needs spaces after the commas, and if possibly at the bottom do km² instead of km2.

Added the commas. I'm not happy with the non parallel structure. If someone has an suggestion.
Km2 in superscript is not possible, for me at least.

I only have rights to change English translations.

The German translation gives me opportunity to start another esthethics issue: in German, words like 'arten' should be capitalised. Yet, house style is to write it all non capitalised. I would suggest to change it all into capitalised, for all languages.
Perhaps a smaller font + every letter capitalised would also be ok: ARTEN

On the German language version of the site the great skua is noted as ''skua - Stercorarius skua''. Besides the non-capitalised noun, a better name would be ''Große Raubmöwe - Stercorarius skua'', as ''Skua'' is rather informal and inconsistent with the current German translations of other Stercorariidae on the site.

I agree Morten, but is it the name given by IOC.. might bring it up to them? I'm sure it is just a mistake.

Oh, I did capitalise the name :)

I've checked it in the source for the IOC (Illustrated checklist Birds of the World), and there it says: 'Skua'.

Well, that's valid source at least. The immediate cause of my post was actually the lack of capitalisation, so that's fine now.

staying at the German website:

Entering observations for Wanzen etc., amongst the selection of a stadium the following should be changed:

macropteer --> makropter
micropter --> mikropter
Gall --> Galle

also, an order like Imago > Im. makro > Im. mikro would be nicer, without the 'Galle' in between

Best,
Lorin

leere Schale --> leeres Gehäuse oder einzelne Schale
fresh double valves --> frische Doppelschale
internal skeleton --> Innenskelett (what is this in Molluscs other than the cuttlebone/Schulp?)
Gall --> Galle
Schild --> Schulp??? not sure what this is referring to
Schale mit (Resten) der Muschel --> Schale mit (Resten der) Muschel
egg(mass) --> Ei(paket)

I have struggled with this word before.  I couldn't find a good English translation as well. This is what wikipedia says in Dutch: een net dat wordt uitgevaren en in een boog wordt dichtgetrokken waarbij de vis wordt ingesloten en gevangen.

zeeg should be 'zegen'
Dutch for 'blessing'. at the time the device was a blessing for people hence the name

Following the paralel structure of other behaviours, zeeg has the preference. The thing is called a zeeg, isn't it?

Eh.. not that I am, nor Wikipedia is aware of: https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zeeg
Or the second hit on google: http://www.markenleij.nl/werkgroepen/?p=611.

Looks like there are multiple names for the same thing!

Interesting :)
'Zegen' definitely seems to be the most used term of the two and the one used by authoritative sources like RAVON. Perhaps the use of 'zeeg' is based on a misunderstanding of the (grammatical) number of zegen.

There is a funny error in translation of the German version:
Instead of Länder, it reads lnder, so an ä is missing, and it should be capitalized (as most of the words should be, but that's not the point here).
However, as you cannot discriminate a small-letter 'L' from an 'I', this word reads as Inder = Indiër in Dutch  :rolleye:

Marijn is probably right.
'Zeeg' is an arched line (derived from the Dutch verb 'zijgen'). 'Zegen' is a fishing net, derived from the Latin 'sagena' with the same meaning)

So the word your looking for is indeed 'zegen'  :)
