What do you think? This seems to be another difficult one
It doesn't look like a pure "krooneend" to me. It looks almost as if this animal has got some kind of tuft? And there's also some strange barred pattern on the frontneck. and what about the greyish hind flank spot?
I think it looks rather long-necked and small-headed... I was thinking some species of whistling-duck?

I agree on that. On Jan Harteman's site i took a quick glance at the species, and Dendrocygna javanica (Lesser Whistling Duck i guess) looks the most familiar.
If a whistling-duck is involved, then a Wandering (Dendrocygna arcuata) rather than a Lesser, because of the cap. But it doesn't look like a whistling-duck to me. I think this could be another one of the Anas x Aythya hybrids. Perhaps Pintail (because of the long neck) x Tufted Duck (because of the tuft)?

Won't it be possible to be a Rec-crested pochard (Krooneend) X Mallard (Wilde eend) hybrid?
There are plenty images of male hybrids of these birds, but I've never seen female hybrids so far (most born hybrids will be males btw, so if this is a female, which I suppose, it is a rare one anyway!). Why I think a Mallard is involved? Because of the bill pattern and light female-Mallard-like body and head pattern which fades the typical Red-Crested pochard coloration. But it's just a thought...
I hardly believe a Whistling/Tree duck is involved, its figure would be more upright I think.
On this website there are some female hybrids Krooneed x Wilde eend (in german Stock x Kolbenentenhybrid). Photos 5, 8 and the last two (13 and 14):

Here on Ornithomedia is another female of this combination:

those look somehow different to me? (EDIT: I mailed to the photographer if he has more pictures)
But we see that Kroonend seems to be quite dominant in appearance of the female hybrids Krooneend x wilde eend.
S o this may also be the case in hybridisation with other Anas.
I was thinking in the lines of Redcrested Pochard x Chiloe wigeon because of the very slight orangey brown coloration on belly and the fact that there are some feathers on the upper neck with a black border,
But the head is oddly shaped-or maybe it is just the angle??
here is a link to a hybrid Anas penelope x Netta rufina, unfortunately it doesn´t show the photos....something seems to be wrong:
