Questions about observed grasshoppers or crickets can be posted as seperate topics on the forum.
Unknown species can also be added to the http://observado.org database. Set language to "english" and use "Unidentified Grasshopper or locust" as speciesname. (For more info on how to use observado watch our tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xGksc6xHrd4 ).
This topic however, is created to inform you on other identification sites on the internet.
Http://observado.org offers you a first glance at species.
Have a look at the family overviews:
http://observado.org/familie/all?diergroep=14
or the overviews of species withing a family, for example the Phaneropteridae:

Search for a specific species is also possible. You will then get all the observations of your species of interest. Including distribution maps, geo locations of individual sightings, photos, sounds, etc.
Just play around with all the buttons and you will learn to appreciatie the system!
