Dank.
Vandaag een paar foto's kunnen maken. Hier een foto.
Vandaag erbij 2 vrouwtje pijlstaart aanwezig. Alles is ongeringd...
More photos please-- from this it looks like Chiloe wigeon x Pintail?!
Pintail x mallard should be excluded here as there is no white on the neck!
and the female in front also looks slightly odd? ???
it would be interesting also to see more photos of both females !
From the females i did not have more pictures. From the male have i few more pictures, i will post the in the evening.
will probably only be able to have a close look on sunday or monday;
maybe you are able to get some photos of the females at the weekend-maybe they are still there and the places is not far from where you live?
The birds are near my school, on sunday i will go to this location and i try make more pictures.
Great! Good luck! I am looking forward to the new pictures....
Here alle the pictures that i have, the female on this pictures is the first bird.
And the last pictures, the last picture is only the head of the second female.
I think this makes it a bit clearer, what we can say is all three are wigeon sp. x northern pintail.
however, we still have to clarity which wigeon, here is a shot of a male hybrid
Eurasian wigeon x Pintail:

another one that I would think is eurasian wigeon x pintail:

American wigeon x pintail:

all those have the feathers on the back with less black in the center than your male bird. Also your male bird has amainly black head with a striongly iridescent green patch , also probably an indication to chiloe wigeon parentage.
and in at least one female the shadow around the eye is quite strong for eurasian or american wigeon hybrids- indicating the possibility of chiloe wigeon....
Here are more picture's, i have only pictures from female one and his male. The head of the seccond female looks in the field more at a wigeon. The sound that the make looks also on a Wigeon.
Here are pictures of the male
And more,
And pictures of the female,
And the last pictures,
Well it is clear the female photos are also hybrid!
from the female i can only say northern pintail x wigeon sp ( I think the wigeon was chiloe but do not have enough material for comparison).
for the male i still think it is probably northern pintail x chiloe wigeon .
will explain in detail later!
BTW, thanks for that series of great pictures!
Here is a smient x pijlstaart:

another smient x pijlstaart:
http://www.magikbirds.com/image.asp?title_id=903&show_thumbnails=True (http://www.magikbirds.com/image.asp?title_id=903&show_thumbnails=True)
here an amerikaanse smient x Pijlstaart:

and here chileense smient x smient
http://www.flickr.com/photos/14195020@N08/4442712215/in/pool-hybridbirds (http://www.flickr.com/photos/14195020@N08/4442712215/in/pool-hybridbirds)
Your male hybrid has a very marked green gloss on the head just in the same position as chileense smient has that.
also your bird has no pale areas on the cheeks , something all hybrids amerikaanse smient or smient x pijlstaart I have seen so far , did show.
Furthermore, the ground coloration of your birds head seems to be black- chileense smient also has the head partly black
there is much more black centers in the feathers on the back of your bird than in the hybrids amerikaanse smient or smient x pijlstaart . there is even slightly more marked black centers in the scapular feathers of your bird than in a hybrid chileense smient x smient.- that would fit to Chileense smient x Pijlstaart (as the latter has also some black centered scapular feathers).
Breast colour resemples flank colour of chileense smient in your bird, being pale rusty brown.
In hybrid amerikaanse smient or smient x Pijlstaart this should be pinkish-brown as in both the smient species
And the feales probably the same combination I would think-but i canĀ“t proveit. However as smiensp. x pijlstaart hybrids are rare, I assume they both come from the same source and would then be likely to be the same hybrid combination...
but of course these thoughts are speculation...
